My Climate Path Green Careers Showcase Event

My Climate Path Green Careers Showcase Event

This month we attended the My Climate Path Green Careers Showcase Event at The Studio in Glasgow.

The event hosted a number of Scotland's young people and businesses that demonstrated the green careers currently available across a range of sectors, as well as a number of brilliant guest speakers and a special appearance from First Minister For Further Education, Higher Education & Science of Scotland, Jamie Hepburn.

A group of pupils shared a short presentation on what they had been doing since COP26 in relation to Green Skills and well done to Mearns Castle who also did a showcase at the event. Each school then attended 2 interactive workshops and career talks from Climate Heroes leading the way in sustainability in their industry.

My Climate Path Climate Trail

My Climate Path Climate Trail

To celebrate a year since COP26 took place in Glasgow, My Climate Path is promoting a two-part campaign for the public, schools and businesses to get involved in.

The aim of our Climate Campaign is to inform and raise awareness of the green skills agenda, highlight the environmental credentials of our Climate Hero businesses, and celebrate all the activity which My Climate Path has completed so far.

As part of the campaign, My Climate Path is hosting a Climate Trail around Glasgow city centre. Glasgow's Climate Trail is a fun, interactive scavenger hunt which will lead young people and business professionals around the city’s most sustainable and circular locations via an app called 'ActionBound'.

The campaign also aims to celebrate everyone's journey to becoming more environmentally cautious by encouraging everybody to share on social media what they have been doing for climate change since COP26 using #MyClimatePath.

The winning pupils had a behind the scenes tour of the McDonalds kitchen, were able to discuss their designs and ideas with everyone and had a certificate award ceremony.

Well done to everyone involved, especially the brilliant winners!

Clydebank High School Climate Hero Journey with NMIS

Clydebank High School Climate Hero Journey with NMIS

One of our Climate Heroes, Rachel Moir, Head of Skills at the Manufacturing Skills Academy, was matched to Clydebank High School and spent time in the school working with S3 Geography pupils.

Rachel has been supporting Clydebank High School's climate leaders and Eco School pupils in moving forward with their COP26 legacy to reduce waste in the school.

Rachel delivered a four-week skills based program developing Employability Skills, with a focus on the future of jobs in Scotland within the Renewable and Green Sectors.

Staff at the school said, "Rachel has been brilliant at offering her experience in waste management and her skills in leading change. The pupils are currently working on a Waste Audit. This will help them to discover how much waste is being produced across the school and the type of waste. Our next step will be to look at solutions to reduce this waste".
