Are you willing to offer work placement opportunities in finance-related fields?

West College Scotland is dedicated to providing real-life experience to students, and are seeking your collaboration to make it happen. Are you willing to offer work placement opportunities in finance-related fields for a minimum duration of 21 hours and between the months of April and Mid-June?

As part of WCS commitment to preparing students for the workforce, they're looking for professionals who are open to taking on students for work placements. Your mentorship and guidance can greatly contribute to their growth and development in the finance sector.

If you're interested in offering work placements then please email info@dywwest.co.uk

Additional info on Work Placements:

  • We would be hoping for real life work experience in a financial setting for our students. If they could job shadow, or be given a particular task, that would add real value to their future CVs and job interview responses, that would be ideal
  • A placement with yourselves would help with our students understanding of class room learning in the real world
  • If you can offer placement to 1 or 2 students that would be a great support.
  • The Unit actually has a minimum of 21 hours Work Placement activity – this can be extended if that meets the availability of the student and yourselves.
  • The timings of the placement are likely to be March -June – again is this flexible although the first two weeks in May would be difficult as the students have an exam in May – 15th May for this year.

STEM West 22

STEM West 22

STEM West is back!

Our flagship 2022 STEM West event will return on 21st-22nd November at West College Scotland, Clydebank campus.

This event is there to help to inspire young people to choose STEM subjects at school and have employers showcase their industry. When we last held this physically back in 2019, we had over 500 young people attend across the 2 days from schools across our 4 Local Authority areas.

If you are an employer who is interested in showcasing your company and can bring along something interactive or hands on for S3-S4 pupils to engage with over the 2 days then please let us know. Even if you can only attend one of the days, it would be great to still have you come!

Interested in showcasing at STEM West 2022? Email us at info@dywwest.co.uk by 26th August 2022

STEM West 21

STEM West 21

STEM West our annual STEM event - where organisations involved in STEM help to inspire young people to choose STEM subjects at school and showcase early careers in their industry - was held from 22nd-26th November 2021.

We decided to have the event online again due to Covid and asked for employers to create and submit STEM related video content that could be shown in schools.

We wouldn't have been able to have a successful STEM West 21 without all of the amazing employers who put time and effort into creating videos for us.

We want to say a massive thank you to all of the employers who sent us a video for #STEMWest21 and to everyone who has viewed the videos so far!

#STEMWest will be back next year!

If you've not had a chance to check out the videos then you can see them all on our YouTube channel https://buff.ly/3cMQrjT

You can also check out the list of the great employers we had take part from the attachment below.
